Advent Outing: Youth Group Goes to Manhattan

In preparation for Christmas we took our youth group from the parish of Sts. Peter and Paul in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY on a trip to Manhattan just across the Brooklyn Bridge for a day of prayer and recreation.

Our first destination was to the Church of St. Francis of Assisi where the youth had the opportunity for confession and Adoration. Afterwards we had dinner at a local pizzeria. The other highlight of the tour of the city was our stop in Times Square, and a visit to the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center.

March for Life 2011

In January, thirty-three members of the youth group travelled to Washington,DC to stand up for the unborn by participating in the 38th Annual March for Life.  The group also took time to visit the Franciscan Monastery, the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and the Smithsonian Museums. For some of the youth this was their first experience in the March for Life and they were very grateful that they could come and promote the culture of life here in the United States. They hope to come again and we pray for their perseverance in that resolution. We are grateful to our Lady for the many blessings and graces she has obtained for our missions in New York and we continue to implore her help in the sanctification of all youth.

“Now who is going to harm you if you are enthusiastic for what is good? But even if you should suffer because of righteousness, blessed are you. Do not be afraid or terrified with fear of them, but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts (1 Peter 3:13-15).”
