A contemplative vocation is a particular calling within the call to religious life. Their calling is one “totally dedicated to contemplation…to God alone in solitude and silence, in constant prayer and willing penance” (SSVM Monastic Rule, 145-146).
Sometimes our active sisters recognize this calling after a time as active missionaries and are later able to fulfill their vocation from within the contemplative cloister. Other times, vocations are received directly into the contemplative houses of formation.
In addition to our houses of formation for our active sisters, our contemplative houses also have formation houses in which vocations to the contemplative life are received directly.
For women interested in discerning the contemplative life within our Institute, there is the possibility of visiting our contemplative community, sharing in moments of prayer, work, and community life with the sisters. For more information contact:
