Eight Sisters Profess Final Vows in Our Province

Total Surrender

As religious, “we surrender ourselves totally to the service of God… through the fulfilling of the three vows of poverty, chastity and obedience, driven by charity” (Constitutions, 48).

Our constitutions outline the characteristics of the profession of the religious vows, by which we are Spouses of Christ:

    • First, it is the “most perfect expression [of the baptismal promises] for the person who thus surrenders himself to God fulfills the baptismal demands to their maximum perfection: We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death (Rom. 6:4)” (Constitutions, 49).
    • “Secondly, it is equivalent to martyrdom in a certain way, since the religious possesses the same will as the martyr: both accept their death to this world in order to fully unite themselves totally to Christ and to form part of his kingdom” (Constitutions, 50).
    • “Thirdly, the religious profession constitutes a true holocaust of oneself, since, by virtue of the vows, the religious offers herself and all that is hers to God, without keeping anything back: through the vow of chastity, she offers the goods of her body; through the vow of poverty, external things; and through the vow of obedience, the goods of her soul” (Constitutions, 51).
    • “Lastly, the religious profession is a true consecration by which the religious is something sacred, destined for divine worship, and the property of God” (Constitutions, 52).”

Our general superior, Mother Maria Corredentora was present and received the vows. Following the joyous ceremony, as always, we had a festive lunch with family and friends.

We ask for your prayers for these eight sisters, that they may always be faithful to Christ their Bridegroom.

Our Lady of Lujan, pray for us!
