Our Constitutions tell us that our holy habit “should be as our very own skin” (Const, 154).
For us as religious, the reception of the habit is a solemn and significant moment marking the commitment of consecrated life in a very visible way. This, together with the receiving of a new name which happens sometime before, shows to the world that the religious is not his own but belongs to Christ in a complete and radical way.
On December 9, ten of our novices in Washington, DC received the holy habit.

															Those who were invested are:
Sister Mary of the Crucifixion
Sister Mary Mother of Good Counsel
Sister Mary Virgin Mother
Sister Mary Tower of Ivory
Sister Mary Queen of Heaven
Sister María Madre de Dulzura (Mary Mother of Sweetness)
Sister Mary Throne of Mercy
Sister Mary Stainless Maiden
Sister Mary Fountain of Life
Sister Maria Lignum Vitae (Mary Tree of Life)
The habit of a Servidora includes:
- a grey tunic
 - a blue scapular
 - a blue veil for professed sisters
 - a white veil for novice sisters
 - the cross of Matará

Our habit with these colors represents the mystery of the Incarnation: the blue represents the Divinity of Christ and the grey represents His Humanity.
“…The blue scapular, which represents the Divine Word, put over the grey habit, which symbolizes the humanity, is an eloquent statement of the great mystery of the Incarnation, in which the Word was united with our nature and dressed in our flesh…
…In each Servidora there should be a love for her Habit; it should be like her skin, so that united to the Incarnate Word, who united Heaven and Earth, she may flower into all kinds of good works and be for all the sweet aroma of Christ (2 Cor 2:15).”
— Las Servidoras, Vol. I
Please pray for these novices as they embark on the adventure of following Christ!
Our Lady of Lujan, pray for us!
