“Grace upon Grace” in the Province of the Immaculate Conception: 13 New Marys and New Habits!

And from his fulness have we all received, grace upon grace.

– John 1:16

Yesterday, December 8th, marked the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, patroness of our country and also of our Province (our province includes the United States, Canada, Mexico, Guyana and Suriname).  This year December 8th also marked the closing of the year of St. Joseph, patron and protector of our Institute.

As a province and as a religious family, this is an important time to give special thanks for the abundant graces that God has poured out upon us. These graces have been particularly visible over the past several weeks –  we have received “grace upon grace”!

13 novices received their new names

On November 19th, 13 of our novices received their new names. Our religious sisters take new names that are always advocations of Our Lady. This is a significant sign of our total consecration to Mary, “marianizing” our lives in a profound way. The names of these “New Marys” are:

Mary Paraíso Celestial (Heavenly Paradise)
María Madre de la Víctima Inmolada (Mother of the Immolated Victim)
Mary Immaculate Heart
Mary Promised Gift of God
Mary Morning Start
Mary Guardian of Hope
María Humilde Esclava del Altísimo (Humble Slave of the Most High)
Maria Lacrimosa (Tearful Mary)
Mary of the Pierced Heart
Mary Full of Grace
María Aurora de la Redención (Dawn of the Redention)
María Socorro de los Pecadores (Help of Sinners)
María Fuente Sellada (Sealed Fountain)

Two Contemplative Novices received the habit

On November 29th, two contemplative novices received the Holy Habit in our St. Edith Stein Monastery in Brooklyn, New York: Sister Maria Fuente Sellada and Sister Maria Socorro de los Pecadores.

A few days later, a new contemplative postulant received the Cross of Matara in the same monastery.

11 Novices received the habit in Washington DC

Last week 11 Novices were invested with the religious habit at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Washington DC.

As novices, they are beginning the first steps of religious life. Their time in the novitiate is a preparation for their first profession of vows through human, spiritual, and intellectual formation.

As the Lord continues to pour out blessings on our small religious family, we ask you to keep our missionaries in this Province of the Immaculate Conception in your prayers.

Mary Immaculate Conception, pray for us!
