Investiture of Habit: a Sign of Consecration and Witness of Poverty

The Holy Habit is a sign of their consecration and witness of their poverty.
– SSVM Constitutions, 154

In the past days, 13 of our novices received the Holy Habit. With the opening of our new Contemplative Novitiate this year, there were two ceremonies.

Investiture of Contemplative Novices

On December 1st, our three contemplative novices received the habit at our Monastery in Brooklyn, NY.

Investiture of Novices from our Active Branch

On December 4th, the remaining 10 novices received their Habits.

This vocation is a special treasure of the Church…both for the community of the People of God, and for the “world”, a living sign of the “future life”: a sign…by means of your religious habit, in the everyday life of the Church and of society, and permeates its most delicate tissues.
– St. John Paul II

We entrust these novices to Our Blessed Mother and we ask for your prayers for the holiness and perseverance of all our religious in formation in our province.
