Feast of St. John Paul the Great

Today we celebrate the feast of one of the greatest saints of our times, St. John Paul the Great.

For us, the Religious Family of the Incarnate Word, this day has particular importance because he is our spiritual father. It is from him that we have learned and continue to learn to be true missionaries of the Church, missionaries after the Heart of Christ.

As we celebrate this day, see here for more information that we have published about St. John Paul II.

We cannot be content when we consider the millions of our brothers sisters, who like us have been redeemed by the blood of Christ, but who live in ignorance of the love of God. For each believer, as for the entire Church, the missionary task must remain foremost, for it concerns the eternal destiny of humanity and corresponds to God’s mysterious and merciful plan.
— St. John Paul II, Redemptoris Missio, 1990

We ask you to join us in praying, through the intercession of this great saint, for the needs of the Holy Father, the Church and all missionaries throughout the world.

St. John Paul the Great, Apostle of youth and families, pray for us!
