On December 30, 2019, Father Rubén Maldonado, IVE, priest and monk of the Incarnate Word, died after almost a month of hospitalization at Teodoro Schestakow Hospital, in San Rafael (Argentina). He had been diagnosed a short time before with a cancer that had metastasized. In the weeks before his death, he was cared for in the IVE St. Martin of Tours Home and by the Major Seminary in San Rafael. He was also closely accompanied by his parents and siblings.
Even in the midst of intense suffering, Fr. Rubén exhibited a peace and joy in accepting the Divine Will. He offered his illness for his family, for the residents and staff of the St. Martin Home and for the members of the Religious family.
By the grace of God he was able to continue celebrating the Holy Mass even while hospitalized and he received the last Sacraments before his death. He was laid to rest in Religious Family cemetery at the Seminary of Mary, Mother of the Incarnate Word.
We entrust his soul to God through the hands of the Blessed Virgin Mary, to whom he was consecrated. We ask for prayers for the repose of his soul.
