Our new mission in Guyana began on January 23, 2007. The community of SSVM sisters living in Charity, Guyana assists the IVE priests in St. Francis Xavier Parish.   The Parish boundaries include 9 communities along the Essequibo Coast and the Pomeroon River. The communities names are:

  1. Christ the King in Suddie
  2. Our Lady of Peace in Queenstown
  3. St. Francis of Assisi in Lima Sands
  4. St. Joseph in Henrietta
  5. St. Theresa in Arapiako
  6. St. Loius the King in Siriki
  7. Our Lady of Sorrows in Marlborough
  8. St. John the Evangelist in St. John’s
  9. St. Francis Xavier in Charity

Apostolate
The apostolate of the sisters includes:

  • Catechism instruction
  •  Visiting homes and hospitals
  • Sacristy and parish work
  • Assisting with spiritual exercises for lay women
  • Youth Groups
  • Monthly visits to juvenile detention center
  • Summer camps
  • Popular missions
  • Organizing lay volunteers
