Yesterday, December 8th<\/sup>, marked the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, patroness of our country and also of our Province<\/a> (our province includes the United States, Canada, Mexico, Guyana and Suriname).\u00a0 This year December 8th<\/sup> also marked the closing of the year of St. Joseph, patron and protector of our Institute.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

As a province and as a religious family, this is an important time to give special thanks for the abundant graces that God has poured out upon us. These graces have been particularly visible over the past several weeks \u2013 \u00a0we have received \u201cgrace upon grace\u201d!<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

On November 19th<\/sup>, 13 of our novices received their new names. Our religious sisters take new names that are always advocations of Our Lady. This is a significant sign of our total consecration<\/em> to Mary, \u201cmarianizing\u201d our lives in a profound way. The names of these \u201cNew Marys\u201d are:<\/p>

Two Contemplative Novices received the habit<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

On November 29th<\/sup>, two contemplative novices<\/a> received the Holy Habit in our St. Edith Stein Monastery<\/a> in Brooklyn, New York: Sister Maria Fuente Sellada and Sister Maria Socorro de los Pecadores.<\/p>

A few days later, a new contemplative postulant received the Cross of Matara in the same monastery.<\/p>

Last week\u00a011 Novices were invested with the religious habit at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Washington DC.<\/p>

As novices, they are beginning the first steps of religious life. Their time in the novitiate<\/a> is a preparation for their first profession of vows through human, spiritual, and intellectual formation.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
