Their calling is one \u201ctotally dedicated to contemplation\u2026to God alone in solitude and silence, in constant prayer and willing penance\u201d (<em>SSVM Monastic Rule,<\/em> 145-146).<\/p><p>Sometimes our active sisters recognize this calling after a time as active missionaries and are later able to fulfill their vocation from within the contemplative cloister. Other times, vocations are received directly into the contemplative houses of formation.<\/p><p>In addition to our houses of formation for our active sisters, our contemplative houses also have
