Culture<\/h3><p>Our contemplative sisters participate in a real and profound way in the charism of our Religious Family of the Incarnate Word: <em>to evangelize the culture, thus prolonging the Incarnation<\/em> (Constitutions, 5). \u00a0They do this in two ways \u2013 first and primarily by their life of prayer, and secondly in concrete activities that serve to transform the world and offer it to God.<\/p><p>Our contemplative sisters seek to \u201cpermeate the culture\u201d (Constitutions, 28), \u201cto transform and offer the world to God\u201d (Constitutions, 1), \u201cto enter cultures\u00a0\u2026 [in order]to heal them and to elevate them with the strength of the Gospel\u201d (Directory of Spirituality, 46).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div in the apostolic mission of our Religious Family with their life of prayer and penance \u2013 the <em>unum necessarium<\/em> (Lk 10:42), the one thing necessary.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cThey actually are at the vanguard (front line) of all apostolic works of the Institute,\u201d being \u201cthe keystones of the apostolic endeavor of our Institute.\u201d<br \/>\u2013 monasteries assist actively in this work of evangelizing the culture through facilitating the <a href=\"https:\/\/ssvmusa.org\/index.php\/catholic-culture\/upcoming-spiritual-excercises\/\">Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius<\/a> for the laity, praying for and receiving visitors, and engaging in and striving to be sources of culture.\u00a0They also seek to elevate the liturgy through the embroidery of altar linens, chasubles and other items used in Sacred Worship, as well as in sacred music and chant.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-inner-column elementor-element center;\">\u201cHistorically, it was the monasteries that safeguarded for humanity all works of great importance for the human spirit, throughout the centuries; becoming sources of culture, teaching inside their walls the works of the Holy Fathers, the secular Greek and Latin authors, the sciences and the liberal arts such as painting, music, etc.\u00a0 Therefore, in the monasteries cultural activities will be carried out that contribute toward their own goal (union with God), and toward the specific purpose of the Institute: the evangelization of the culture.\u201d\u00a0<br
