Happy New Year!  And a blessed Solemnity of Mary Mother of God!Our-Lady-of-Fatima-statue-of-CoimbraAs we gathered to welcome in the New Year of 2018, we also paused in prayer and reflection to give thanks for the many graces we have received in this past year.

We offer here the circular letter written by Mother Mary of the Immaculate Conception Ambrogio, SSVM, our Provincial Superior, to the members of our Province: SSVM Letter of Thanksgiving for 2017newly-professed-sisters-SSVM-2017-Holy-Comforter-St-Cyprian-Washington-DCIn a particular way we pray for peace in the world and for all those mourning the loss of a loved one.

Our own Province began 2017 with the departure of M. Mater Mundi Salvatoris, SSVM (1980-2017) to the House of the Father after a sudden illness.  Six months after her death, M. Immaculate wrote a beautiful reflection about the passage of time in the light of our Christian hope: “For us it has been almost six months, for her ‘Per Omnia Secula Seculorum’.”

The true life of any Christian, and of a religious in particular, does not end in death, but begins.

May we ask for the grace that this new year be one of deeper faith, truer hope, and generous love for God and neighbor.  Let us pray for one another, for our nation, and for our world that as true disciples of the Prince of Peace we may bring Christ to others.

May Our Lady, Queen of Peace, intercede for us and guide us ever closer to her Son!  Happy New Year!
