On Monday March 20th our sisters were celebrating Saint Joseph around the world. A long list photo galleries of the Servidoras gathering for the Holy Mass, for renewal of vows, and for profession of perpetual vows can be found on the IVE Chronicles page of “photos of the week of March 24”.
Here we would like to feature two special moments to honor the beauty of fidelity: the final vows of Sr. Maria Blanca Azucena on that day, and the funeral of Sr. Maria del Corpus Domini who died on March 22nd, following her 25th Silver Jubilee of profession.
Final Vows in Mexico
On Monday, March 20th, Feast of Saint Joseph, Sister Maria Blanca Azucena (“Mary White Lily”) pronounced her final vows in the local IVE parish church of San Felipe de Jesus in Merida, Mexico. Sr. Blanca Azucena grew up in Mexico and is currently serving in the work of mercy for elderly priests in Merida. We rejoice with her, the local religious community of our sisters in Mexico, and her family who came for the ceremony and celebration.
We congratulate Sister and give thanks to God for the gift of a religious vocation! Please join us in a prayer of thanksgiving and for the gift of perseverance. May this life given for the Lord be for His glory and the salvation of many souls.
Short Video and the Circular Letter in English of Sr. Maria del Corpus Domini (1971-2017)
As we posted recently, one of our sisters was called to the Lord on the day following her Silver Jubilee of vows. Sr. Maria del Corpus Domini died on March 22, 2017 after a two-year illness with leukemia. Below is a short video from her final funeral mass and burial made by the IVE priests in Italy in her honor.
Quite remarkably, she made a video message on March 15th (just a week before her death) as a message to the IVE priests for the celebration of the Feast of the Incarnate Word. She makes this message in Italian in thanksgiving for the work and fidelity of priests and concerning the relationship of prayer that the contemplative sisters have with these “ambassadors of mercy.” The message concludes with an eloquent invitation to take strength on the long road of perseverance according to the great desires and enthusiasm of “the beginnings”.
The circular “Letter of Edification” about Sr. Corpus Domini is now available in English translation as well. Letter of Edification Sr Maria del Corpus Domini Valle
Finally, since three funeral masses were offered for Sr. Corpus Domini, we also include here the link to the images and texts (now available in English translation) about these powerful days for our Religious Family.
May the beauty of fidelity which shone in her life be a special mark of the Church’s unity with Christ, the faithful One. Let all draw near with confidence and love to share in this fidelity as we saw in th final vows of Sr. Blanca Azucena.
Prayers for a Holy Triduum close to the Lord for all of you and your families.
