Together with the whole universal Church, our Religious Family celebrated the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception on December 8th with a mass at the St John Baptiste de la Salle Parish, seat of the Fulton Sheen House of Formation, the Seminary of the Institute of the Incarnate Word (IVE).  We were honored to have Bishop Barry Knestout, Auxiliary Bishop of Washington, conferring minor orders to a group of the seminarians on that occasion.

The following day, on December 9th we gathered at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC (where the Trinity Dome mosaic is going up!) for the Provincial celebration and the investiture of habits for our IVE novice brothers and our own SSVM novice sisters.

His Eminence Theodore Cardinal McCarrick, Archbishop Emeritus of Washington, presided over the Mass and delivered a warm homily about the gift and mystery of the religious vocation.

Please join us in giving thanks to God for the grace of these new vocations, and let us entrust them all into the maternal care of Our Lady of Luján, the Immaculate Conception who is Mother of our Vocations.  We also ask for prayers for the Come and See Discernment Retreat 2017 which will be held in Washington, DC from April 7 – April 9th.
