Our sisters have been all cross the country this summer. What a blessing to collaborate with other women religious!

The summer has just a few more short weeks left as we begin to look back with gratitude for the many special apostolates we were able to participate in across the country.  In this first of two posts, we look at the beautiful opportunities we had to serve families, youth and young adults during May and June.

May 2016

The 15th IVE Youth Festival, our annual event for Catholic teenagers, was held May 20-22nd in Upstate New York.  Read more about the event.

Universitas 2016, Catholic University Formation, was held from May 22-26.  See more about it on Facebook, and info from the website.

June 2016

From June 3 – 11, our missionary sisters in Florida received some visiting sisters to help facilitate the SSVM Summer Camp for the teen and middle-school girls of the IVE parish Saint Michael’s Catholic Church in Wachula, Florida.

A Parish Mission was held in Mankato, Minnesota from June 6 – 16.  SSVM postulants and sisters joined the local IVE Minor Seminarians and a group of IVE major seminarians for the door-to-door visits and mission events.   Read more about the event, and see the photo gallery on Google Photos.

Sisters also participated in the GIVEN Forum, a Catholic Young Women’s Leadership Forum, held in Washington, DC from June 7 – 12.  Sponsored by the Council of Major Superiors of Women Religious (CMSWR), the event gathered 300 young rising leaders from across the country for formation, prayer, and mutual support in the work of the New Evangelization in their respective professional fields and family life.

Mother Aeiparthenos Berry and Mother Ephesus Baird served as planning coordinators for various logistics of the event. and Sr. Maria Theotokos Adams gave the closing keynote address.  All of our sisters also facilitated small groups during the days of the Forum.

Meanwhile sisters also traveled to South Dakota from June 11 -19 to participate in the Totus Tuus Summer Vocations’ Camp in the Diocese of Rapid City (see June posts on the Vocations Office Facebook Page!).  Their Vocations Office is always ready to facilitate meaningful times of prayer and encounter between young people and religious and priests.  No wonder they have so many vocations for a small “mission” diocese!

Sisters also ran our own IVE Girls’ Summer Days in Upstate New York from June 16 – 19.  Sorry, no photos available just now!  Summer has been a busy whirl-wind!

We wrapped up the month at the Arlington Diocese “Work Camp” June 25 – July 1.  This remarkable Catholic version of youth-meets-habitat-for-humanity is a real feat of planning and commitment by so many adult lay volunteers.  Excellent work for those whose homes were improved, and for those whose hearts were improved!  Read more about it.

Upcoming blog post: July and August!  Please pray for the enduring fruits of these days of prayer, service, and proclamation of the Gospel to the next generation.  Our Lady Star of the Evangelization, pray for us!  Saint John Paul II, Friend of Youth, pray for us!
