From Sunday, November 15 to Thursday, November 19, we gathered to hold the 5th Provincial Chapter at the Provincial House in Washington, DC. The members of our Provincial Council along with all the local superiors and some elected delegates formed the body of the Chapter.
We were so grateful to have the presence of the priests of the Institute of the Incarnate Word (IVE), the male branch of our Religious Family, who preached the retreat, celebrated daily Mass for us, and also made some presentations.
The Province of the Immaculate Conception is a jurisdiction of our congregation which includes twenty communities of missionaries serving in the United States (15), Canada (2), Guyana (1), Mexico (1) and Suriname (1). These communities are mostly apostolic communities serving in parishes, shrines or works of mercy, but also our Province also has a monastery of contemplative life in Brooklyn and the houses of formation (Postulancy, Novitiate and Juniorate).
The Chapter included a silent retreat day, followed by three intensive days of presentations and discussions on essential elements of our religious life as well as reports on the apostolic work of the various regions within our Province. Each day, we gathered before our Eucharistic Lord so that we might be drawn close to His Sacred Heart and become ever more docile to the Holy Spirit.
Please pray for us and for the ongoing fruits of the Provincial Chapter especially as our community prepares for the IV Ordinary General Chapter in the summer of 2016. May Our Lady of Luján truly “be a mother to us now” and always.
