St. Edith Stein Monastic Community at prayer

Founded in Brooklyn in 1998, the Monastery of St. Edith Stein is a community of our contemplative sisters under the patronage of St. Edith Stein (St. Teresa Benedicta a Cruce, OCD) (1891-1942) whose feast day is August 9th.

Since 2012 our contemplatives have been in residence at the historic Monastery of the Precious Blood of the Sister Adorers of the Precious Blood in Borough Park Brooklyn where the two communities live and pray alongside each other.

To celebrate the feast day of St. Edith Stein and the intercession of their patroness, we wish to highlight a new 10 minute video made by NET TV (a part of De Sales initiatives of the Diocese of Brooklyn) in honor of the Year of Consecrated Life.

The “Monastery Fund” is a way to support the new efforts to restore the Retreat Center at the Monastery for those seeking times of prayer and rest, as well as opportunities to sustain the 125 years of contemplative life in the heart of Brooklyn.

May St. Edith Stein continue to interceded for the sisters who follow her footsteps of silence, prayer and contemplation.

St. Edith Stein, pray for us!
