Once again, we have gathered on May 8th to honor, thank, and draw near to Our Lady of Luján, Patroness of our small religious family, the Religious Family of the Incarnate Word. All over the world, our sisters, priests, seminarians, and lay Third Order members have been united in prayer, many making their Marian Consecration according to the method of St. Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort. Celebrations also took place in all the many corners of the Province of the Immaculate Conception.
In Washington, His Eminence of Theodore Cardinal McCarrick presided over the Holy Mass at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in which four IVE brothers professed their perpetual vows, and the IVE novice brothers as well as our SSVM novice sisters made their Marian consecration — preparing them to make the first religious vows later in the year “to Jesus through Mary.”
In California, the Religious Family at Our Lady of Peace Shrine in Santa Clara also celebrated a special Mass (see PDF poster) installing a new image of Our Lady of Luján made as an exact and proportional replica of the original.
In Suriname, novices also made their Marian Consecration after a special period of study and spiritual preparation.
The day was a beautiful celebration of Mary as our Mother and Queen. For, it is our greatest joy to be united with Christ in the Eucharist, with Mary in our consecration to her, and with one another through the bonds of fraternal charity and our common charism. May Our Lady of Luján always lead us closer to Her Son, bring many holy vocations to our Religious Family, and be our companion and guide on the road to Heaven. ¡Que Viva la Virgen!
