Together with the whole Church we honor Saint Joseph today! He is the faithful spouse of the Virgin Mary and foster father of the Son of God; the patron of the dying and the protector of the Church.
In particular, we give thanks for his great care for us during the past twenty-seven years since our foundation in San Rafael, Argentina on March 19, 1988. On that day, Fr. Carlos Miguel Buela, IVE founded our community, the Institute of the Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matará (SSVM), as the female branch of the Religious Family of the Incarnate Word. Our brothers, the priests and seminarians of the Institute of the Incarnate Word (IVE), had already been founded four years before, on March 25, 1984, Solemnity of the Annunciation.
Today we ask the intercession of St. Joseph that we may be faithful to our charism and may become true spiritual mothers in the Church for the people of our times. As a resource for the Year of Consecrated Life, we now offer a short video about this vocation so proper to women religious: “Spiritual Maternity” (3:16).
May St. Joseph continue to protect us and be our guardian as he was for the Holy Family of Nazareth.
Good Saint Joseph, pray for us!
