On Sunday, February 8th convents across the country are opening their doors to visitors as part of the “Day with Religious” initiative for the Year of Consecrated Life. Neighbors and parishioners are invited to visit the convents open in their diocese as a way to learn more about religious life and to share time with local religious men and women. This initiative is a local response to Pope Francis’ call for the Year of Consecrated Life, closely tied to the World Days of Consecrated Life just celebrated yesterday on February 2, the Presentation in the Temple (see 2015 homily).

1326 Quincy Street NE
Washington, DC 20017
Located in Brookland near the National Shrine and next door to the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land, our convent will be open for visitors from 1:00pm-4:00pm. Please come by for a tour and a cup of hot chocolate!
- Novitiate St. Kateri Tekakwitha (1:00pm-4:00pm)

The Conference of Major Superiors of Women Religious (CMSWR) has prepared an interactive map which highlights participating member communities. Check for convents close to where you live. Additional open houses may be listed only on the diocesan websites under “Office of Vocations”.
This is a great event for families, youth groups, and involved Catholics–even for just curious folks! According to the intentions of Pope Francis, may the Year of Consecrate Life be a fruitful time of gratitude, of renewal and of hope for all consecrated people and the lay faithful alike.
