The whole Church has been praying and accompanying Pope Francis in his pilgrimage of peace to the Holy Land in these days.  The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem set up the official site with photos, texts, and videos of this historic visit: popefrancisholyland2014.lpj.orgSSVM.youth.PopeFrancis.Jordan.2014

The missionaries of our small Religious Family serving in the region have been blessed to greet the Holy Father as well! On Saturday, May 24th the Holy Father visited the Baptism site at “Bethany beyond the Jordan” where a shrine and monastic complex is being built where John the Baptist baptized Christ.

Pope Francis chose this occasion to address refugees and young people with disabilities.  Our sisters brought a group of Jordanian youth and disabled young people who prepared a song for the Holy Father.  One of the girls delivered a short message she had prepared in Spanish!  See the full photo gallery and article from the sisters on our international site.  Below is the brief video of the encounter (6:34) showing our sisters and priests with the special needs youth singing to the Holy Father.

Also, our Religious Family was able to give the Holy Father a triptych showing Our Lady of Anjara and the children from our home of disabled children.  A time of great graces to receive the Vicar of Christ in the Holy Land!Pope.Francis.with.IVE.SSVM.Religious.Family
