For the love of Christ impels us (2 Cor 5:14)

Our sisters are currently working to raise funds for the following two works of mercy.

Infant Jesus of Prague Nursery School
Our day care center daily serves 40 children, ages 2 to 5 years old, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. These children come from slums (favelas) and need our help both with spiritual and material needs.

Each day we provide the children with three meals: breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack, which often is the only food they receive. We also provide basic education, emphasizing the importance of authentic Christian virtues. Among our daily activities are lessons in letters and reading, basic mathematics and English as well as prayer, singing, playing and physical activity-including gymnastics.

The greatest challenges that our children’s families face are the lack of even basic family stability and morale. The majority of the parents are addicted to alcohol (a very common problem in Brazil) and drugs; some children’s parents are incarcerated. Some neighborhood volunteers assist us in our work and help preparing food for these very needy children.

Our nursery receives no government assistance. Therefore, we are responsible for supplying all of these children’s basic needs. To maintain this work, we rely solely on the help and generosity of people like you from all around the world.

Divine Mercy Home for Special Needs Children
We began this work of mercy in October 2008 and are already serving several children suffering from physical and mental disabilities. We provide ongoing 24-hour care for these beautiful children, including housing, food, clothing, medical care, schooling and attention to their spiritual life. Our sisters not only assist the children that require special care, but also manage the household and seek donations of money, food and clothing to help to meet the material needs of the children and the physical maintenance of house.

We are aware of requests from other children and adolescents who need our help. However, we are limited in how many children we can serve because we currently do not have the minimum conditions to care for more of them.

Our home currently operates in a borrowed house, but our goal is to buy this house and expand it, since its current capacity is small and the need is great. With your help we can make these children’s lives much better and offer this work of charity to more special children.
